Apprentice – Air Conditioning and Refrigeration      NECA Education and Careers are seeking a motivated Refrigeration Apprentice to launch their career in a dynamic and growing industry.    Based in Burnie, Tasmania, this four-year apprenticeship offers hands-on experience while you work towards completing UEE32225 Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.    Ideally for both mechanically and electrically inclined individuals, this role concentrates on the operational and mechanical functions of industrial refrigeration systems, rather than electrical work.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical skills, earn a nationally recognised qualification, and build a strong foundation for a long-term career within the HVAC and refrigeration sector.    What do Fridgies do??  Installation - Set up and install new air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems, involving assembling components, such as compressors, motors, and pipes, connection to power and refrigerant lines.    Maintenance - Perform routine checks and maintenance on existing systems to ensure efficient and safe operation, repairing leaks, cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, diagnosing compressor problems and control malfunctions.      Repair - Diagnose and repair existing air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including minor adjustments and part replacements to more complex repairs involving electrical systems and refrigerant handling.      As part of your development, you will work under the mentorship of experienced industry professionals while engaging in a blend of hands-on work and theoretical training.    YOUR key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):  Assisting technicians in servicing and maintaining large industrial refrigeration units  Installing pipework  Hanging evaporators  Mounting refrigeration units on-site  Learning to interpret technical drawings and plans      ABOUT YOU . . .  You should have a strong mechanical and academic aptitude, a positive attitude, and the confidence to ask questions. A genuine interest in how things work mechanically is essential.    If you enjoy working with mechanical systems, repairing or maintaining vehicles, or have experience with hand and power tools, you’ll be well suited to this role. Completion of a Certificate II in Engineering or Electrical would be highly regarded, as this position is heavily focused on mechanical work.
